Speaking at the G7 summit in Evian-les-Bains, Trump characterized the deal as a non-binding memorandum of understanding. He explicitly stated that if he is dissatisfied with Iranian behavior, the U.S. would revert to dropping bombs. This rhetoric persists even as the G7 leaders formally backed the diplomatic push to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and to stabilize shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz.
Despite the diplomatic activity, the situation on the ground remains volatile. Israel, which was excluded from the negotiations, maintains its right to use force and launched fresh artillery and airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Wednesday. Hezbollah responded with two drone attacks, resulting in injuries to five Israeli soldiers. In the city of Nabatieh, residents who had briefly returned to inspect their homes were forced to flee again due to the renewed shelling. Meanwhile, ordinary Iranians express deep skepticism toward the agreement, with many trapped in survival mode as the economic fallout from the conflict continues to erode any sense of optimism for the future.
