Azar’s allegations arrive as Islamabad attempts to position itself as a bridge between the United States and Iran, a diplomatic posture Israel views with profound distrust. During an interview with NDTV, the ambassador argued that some regional actors define peace solely through the absence of the Israeli state. He further criticized Qatar’s involvement in regional affairs, suggesting that certain nations actively foster environments where radical networks can flourish.
Israel has reportedly shared intelligence regarding these movements with Indian authorities, as the government in New Delhi remains wary of cross-border terrorism. Azar claimed that beyond public reports, there is evidence of clandestine Hamas activity that poses a mounting security challenge across South Asia. He specifically pointed to anti-Semitic rhetoric within Pakistan’s establishment as a primary indicator that the state’s approach to regional security remains fundamentally hostile. While India continues to advocate for dialogue and maintains balanced relations with both Israel and Gulf nations, the ambassador’s claims highlight a widening gulf in regional security perceptions following the escalation of the conflict in Gaza.
