MP Anil Desai confirmed the issuance of the whip, stressing that attendance is non-negotiable for all party lawmakers. The move follows widespread reports that seven of the party’s nine MPs may be in discussions to align with the ruling Shiv Sena faction. While Desai dismissed concerns over the party’s stability, he acknowledged that the leadership has sought formal safeguards from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to protect constitutional provisions against unauthorized mergers.
Adding to the tension, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut launched a scathing attack on the alleged poaching attempts. He claimed on social media that the "price" for an MP to switch loyalties has been set at 50 crore rupees, with 15 crore rupees provided as an advance. Raut’s comments followed a sarcastic exchange with TMC MP Mahua Moitra regarding political inducements. Despite these public salvos and reports of "Operation Tiger"—a alleged effort to hollow out Uddhav Thackeray’s party—leader Arvind Sawant maintained that no member has officially communicated an intention to resign. The party remains in a state of high alert as it attempts to prevent a repeat of the 2022 split that fundamentally altered Maharashtra’s political landscape.
