The capital injection into Greenview Fertiliser Corp. signals a strategic pivot toward continental food sovereignty. By scaling Nigeria's annual urea output from 3 million to 9 million metric tonnes and launching a dedicated 3 million metric tonne facility in Ethiopia, the project aims to bridge the productivity chasm between Africa and agricultural powerhouses like India and China.
This investment reinforces the long-standing financial alignment between the two entities, following the successful repayment of a $300 million loan for Dangote Industries Limited. For AFC President Samaila Zubairu, the timing is critical: with Africa’s population projected to hit 2.5 billion by 2050, the continent can no longer rely on imported agricultural inputs. Aliko Dangote noted that the expansion serves as a cornerstone for both industrial growth and regional food security, transforming how the continent approaches domestic manufacturing and economic resilience.
