The investment targets two specific platforms to boost productivity. The first expands Business South’s AcceleratorNZ programme, which utilizes AI to parse internal company data and generate immediate action plans. Having already assisted over 100 firms, the programme is now slated to support an additional 500 businesses over the coming year, providing smaller enterprises with high-level diagnostic capabilities.
Simultaneously, the Government is backing Business Mentors New Zealand to launch an AI Digital Mentor tool. This technology streamlines the matching process between owners and mentors by analyzing specific business needs against mentor expertise. Brewer emphasized that this digital layer is intended to augment rather than replace traditional human guidance, keeping personal relationships at the core of the service. By embedding these tools into the local economy, the Government seeks to foster greater competitiveness and adaptability among the 680,000 employees currently sustained by the small business sector.
