The latest friction saw Iran launch approximately 30 ballistic missiles toward Israel, prompting retaliatory Israeli strikes against sites linked to Iranian missile production and air defense systems. While Israel reported no casualties, Iranian officials confirmed 15 injuries resulting from the strikes. Following the engagement, oil prices retreated from their initial highs, and the U.S. dollar eased from its peak as markets processed the halt in direct hostilities.
Despite the pause, the underlying conflict persists. Israel maintains its right to continue military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, while Tehran has explicitly warned that any further Israeli aggression will trigger a renewed response. Meanwhile, Iran-aligned Houthi forces in Yemen have signaled their intent to disrupt Israeli maritime traffic, further complicating the security landscape. While diplomatic efforts are slated to resume in Washington, Iran continues to challenge international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, maintaining its leverage as it pushes for the removal of economic sanctions and the recognition of its regional influence.
