Following his move to the BJP, Samantaray credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior party officials for facilitating his transition. His candidacy is part of a broader national push by the BJP, which has nominated 11 candidates for the 24 Rajya Sabha seats currently up for grabs across ten states.
