The firm, which manages assets for private individuals, families, and increasingly institutional investors, reached a record 3.9 billion francs in client assets earlier this year. Wyss emphasizes that this growth is not pursued at any cost, as maintaining the firm’s owner-managed culture and service quality remains the primary objective. Acquisitions are viewed as a third pillar of expansion, though Wyss notes the process is selective, requiring alignment on pricing, client segmentation, and long-term integration strategies.
Addressing the industry-wide challenge of succession, Wyss advocates for institutionalizing client relationships rather than relying on individual star advisers. Her own transition from assistant in 2004 to CEO in 2020 serves as a model for this approach, supported by a continuity-focused partnership with chairman and former owner Josef U. Bollag. Looking ahead, Tareno plans to complement its core private banking business with specialized equity funds, maintaining a strict policy against retrocessions to preserve its independence.
