Swiss Banking Sector Sees Modest Hiring Rebound

Major Swiss banks posted 4 percent more job openings in October compared to September, signaling a slight stabilization in the labor market. Analysis from the Indeed portal shows ten leading financial institutions listed 565 vacancies by month-end, a recovery from the low of 482 positions recorded in May.

Swiss Banking Sector Sees Modest Hiring Rebound

The sector has been under significant pressure for months, largely due to the integration of Credit Suisse into UBS, which triggered a sharp decline in recruitment. While UBS increased its listings by 20 percent to 74 openings in October, the figure remains 22 percent lower than in the same period last year.

Broader industry data suggests a varied landscape. Raiffeisen banks led with 169 vacancies, followed by Zürcher Kantonalbank at 65. Private institutions including Lombard Odier and Pictet, alongside PostFinance, also reported growth in their hiring pipelines. Conversely, Vontobel and Migros Bank bucked the trend, showing a decrease in their active job advertisements.
