The company reported that monthly fuel expenses per cabin, typically around $1,800, ballooned to between $6,000 and $8,000 during the ship's transit through Asian waters. Despite attempts to mitigate these costs by slowing the ship's speed and extending port stays, the operator could no longer sustain the mounting financial losses. Management stated that shifting the burden of these costs onto the 203 residents was not a viable path forward.
The ship, which docked in Sihanoukville on October 23, now sits idle instead of continuing its scheduled route to Vietnam. With the voyage terminated prematurely, passengers are being forced to vacate their floating homes, while the status of the 156 crew members remains uncertain. The company has shifted its immediate resources toward supporting those affected as it enters a period of restructuring.
