Baden-Baden’s Modern Twist: Inside the Roomers Hotel

Two millennia of thermal history define Baden-Baden, yet the five-star Roomers hotel injects a provocative, urban energy into the historic spa town. With its glass-fronted facade and bold artistic installations, the property serves as a deliberate departure from the classical architecture surrounding it, proving that tradition can coexist with contemporary edge.

Baden-Baden’s Modern Twist: Inside the Roomers Hotel

Since opening in 2016, the hotel has established itself as an outlier in the Black Forest, offering an aesthetic more reminiscent of Berlin or Frankfurt. Interior designer Piero Lissoni filled the space with daring installations, ranging from walls adorned with cuckoo clocks to modern portraits, creating an atmosphere akin to a contemporary art gallery. Managed by the Frankfurt-based Gekko Group under the Marriott Autograph Collection, the hotel consistently earns its place among the 101 best in Germany.

Tradition Meets Modernity

The experience at Roomers hinges on a deliberate play of contrasts. While the rooftop bar offers a panoramic view of the Black Forest that rivals the best in the country, the culinary direction takes an unexpected turn toward Asia. Chef The Duc Ngo’s restaurant, Moriki, centers on high-end sushi and sashimi, blending Japanese techniques with subtle local influences. This fusion extends to the wellness facilities, where a 500-square-meter spa area features a Turkish hammam and a sauna with mountain views, balancing urban sophistication with the town's ancient reputation for healing. By pairing this modern lifestyle with the city’s inherent grandeur, the hotel successfully bridges the gap between Baden-Baden's storied past and its evolving future.
