Rekha Gupta launches anti-drug campaign in Punjab

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the second phase of the BJP’s ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ from Fatehgarh Sahib on Saturday, leveraging the platform to sharpen her critique of the AAP government. She challenged the administration’s failure to fulfill its 2022 pledge to eradicate the state’s entrenched drug crisis.

Before flagging off the campaign, Gupta met with families grappling with the consequences of substance abuse. She argued that the crisis demands more than political rhetoric, calling for a comprehensive approach that integrates job creation, educational support, and youth sports initiatives. The BJP intends to deploy four separate yatras across all 117 Assembly constituencies, framing the initiative as a central pillar of its strategy leading into the 2027 state elections.

During her visit to the Shri Fatehgarh Sahib Gurudwara, Gupta framed the fight against narcotics as a moral imperative. She stated that Delhi remains committed to supporting Punjab in addressing these systemic challenges. The campaign launch arrives as public pressure mounts on the current government to provide tangible results, with Gupta insisting that community involvement remains the only viable path to shielding the state’s younger generation from further harm.
