Ravneet Bittu Accuses Punjab Government of Orchestrating Convoy Attack

Former Union Minister and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu has accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of shielding drug traffickers and orchestrating an attack on his convoy. The confrontation escalated Saturday after Bittu was detained during a protest near Punjab Agricultural University, where he targeted the Chief Minister’s motorcade with a symbolic gesture.

The allegations follow a disruptive incident near Batala on Friday during the BJP’s 'Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra.' Bittu claimed his vehicles were pelted with eggs and tomatoes, resulting in shattered windows. He asserted that he only escaped injury because he was traveling in a bulletproof vehicle. According to the BJP leader, the local police actively facilitated the escape of the attackers rather than intervening, despite the presence of high-ranking officers at the scene. He specifically named individuals he believes were responsible for leading the mob.

Bittu has now appealed to the Jathedar to file a formal complaint, emphasizing that the attack occurred during the Viah Purab celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, where devotees were obstructed. He further alleged that the state government is colluding with drug lords to suppress political opposition. While protesting the Chief Minister’s arrival at the Kisan Mela in Ludhiana, the BJP leader held up a liquor bottle, demanding that the administration account for the state's drug crisis rather than allowing the AAP leadership to mismanage Punjab's affairs.
