Siddharth Jawahar Sentenced to 11 Years for $31 Million Ponzi Scheme

Siddharth Jawahar, the co-founder of Texas-based Swiftarc Capital, was sentenced to 11 years in prison on Tuesday for orchestrating a massive fraud that ensnared 64 investors. US District Judge Zachary M. Bluestone ordered the 38-year-old to pay $31.35 million in restitution, citing his exploitation of investor trust and personal extravagance.

Jawahar’s scheme ran from 2016 through December 2023, during which he raised over $35 million. While he promised clients strategic growth, he funneled nearly all capital into Philip Morris Pakistan. As that investment faltered, he concealed the losses, using funds from new arrivals to pay off earlier participants. Investigators found he invested only $10 million of the $35 million collected, instead siphoning the remainder to bankroll private jet travel, luxury apartments in Austin and New York, and exclusive club memberships.

Beyond the financial deception, Jawahar attempted to obstruct the federal investigation. After his indictment, he pressured a victim to provide false statements to the FBI and directed his sister to wipe his iPhone to destroy evidence. Court documents further revealed that Jawahar has been residing in the United States illegally since 2005. Among those defrauded was NFL star Travis Kelce, whose losses contributed to the $31.35 million restitution order. Judge Bluestone noted that Jawahar’s total failure to initiate any repayment to his victims remained a critical factor in the sentencing decision.
