Clearlake Capital Consolidates Control Over Chelsea FC

The ownership structure at Stamford Bridge has shifted as Clearlake Capital Group moves to acquire the minority stakes held by Todd Boehly and Mark Walter. This buyout, which values the Premier League side at £950 million, marks the end of Boehly’s tenure as chairman of the London club.

Clearlake co-founders Behdad Eghbali and Jose E. Feliciano are positioning the firm to dictate the club's long-term direction alongside Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss. Despite the boardroom shakeup, the organization insists that day-to-day operations will remain stable. The transition follows a turbulent period of ownership that began in May 2022, when the consortium purchased Chelsea from Roman Abramovich for £4.25 billion.

Boehly, who maintains co-ownership of the Los Angeles Dodgers, has signaled his support for the transfer of authority. The incoming leadership team maintains that the club remains on a viable strategic path, aiming to leverage existing infrastructure to secure future competitive success in English football.
