Israel and Morocco Move to Establish Full Diplomatic Embassies

This transition follows Morocco’s 2020 alignment with Israel, part of a broader regional realignment that saw the UAE, Bahrain, and Sudan also normalize relations under U.S.-brokered agreements.

While these developments signal a deepening of bilateral cooperation, the shift continues to draw sharp criticism from Palestinian leadership. Critics argue that the move undermines the long-standing pan-Arab consensus, which previously conditioned diplomatic recognition of Israel on a full withdrawal from occupied territories. For Rabat and Jerusalem, however, the upgrade reflects a pragmatic push to solidify their strategic and economic integration.
