While a representative for Trump Jr. declined to comment, his wife, Bettina Trump, maintained that Kremlev is a personal friend who provided an extraordinarily generous gift. President Trump, who did not attend the ceremony, dismissed the controversy as insignificant, stating he has no personal relationship with the financier. The IBA and Kremlev have not responded to requests for comment.
