Rashid Alvi Challenges BJP Over UCC and BRICS Summit Priorities

Congress leader Rashid Alvi has accused the central government of weaponizing the Uniform Civil Code to marginalize the Muslim community while ignoring urgent economic crises. Speaking on Monday, he questioned whether the proposed policy serves any purpose beyond political distraction from systemic unemployment and soaring fuel costs.

The critique follows Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s commitment to enforce the Uniform Civil Code across all 21 BJP-governed states by 2029. Alvi dismissed the initiative as an act of stubbornness, arguing that the administration’s track record over the last 12 years consistently reflects an anti-Muslim bias rather than a genuine interest in national reform.

Beyond domestic policy, Alvi attacked the BRICS Delhi Declaration, labeling it an empty document that fails to address critical security failures, specifically the Pahalgam terror attack. He further mocked the summit’s hosting standards, characterizing the decision to serve exclusively vegetarian meals to international delegates as a disregard for diverse cultural preferences.
