Xi Jinping Advances Greater BRICS Agenda with AI and Trade Initiatives

The proposals aim to transition the bloc from a diplomatic forum into a functioning engine for industrial integration, centered on artificial intelligence and supply chain security.

Beijing is positioning itself as the architect of this new framework, pledging to lead the creation of a BRICS AI Open Source Zone. This initiative is designed to standardize the development of an open ecosystem for artificial intelligence, providing a shared platform for innovation and technical training among member nations. Beyond technology, the strategy includes the formation of a BRICS Special Economic Zone partnership and the launch of a dedicated Service Trade Forum, set to be hosted by China next year.

The summit also served as a theater for geopolitical mediation. Amidst volatile conditions in the Middle East, the delegation secured a joint declaration with Iran and the United Arab Emirates. This agreement prioritizes immediate de-escalation efforts, signaling a shift toward the bloc taking a more assertive role in international conflict resolution alongside its pursuit of regional economic stability.
