Delhi Mayor Alleges Vandalism and Misconduct by AAP Councillors

The tension flared Thursday when Wahi attempted to oversee the election for the Ad Hoc Welfare of Scheduled Castes Committee. Despite the AAP failing to nominate a single candidate for the proceedings, party members initiated a disturbance that quickly spiraled into physical altercations. Wahi stated that the councillors harassed the Presiding Officer and eventually forced their way into his private office, where they damaged furniture and confronted security personnel.

Among the most serious accusations, Wahi alleged that one AAP councillor attempted to strip off his clothes in the presence of the woman Deputy Mayor, an act he labeled as a profound breach of institutional decorum. He argued that while political dissent is a fundamental right, the resort to physical intimidation and property damage undermines the constitutional framework of the MCD. The Mayor maintained that the corporation operates under strict legal mandates and that any grievances should have been addressed through established administrative or legal channels rather than through disorder.
