BJP Accuses Congress of Hypocrisy Following Adani-Shivakumar Meeting

The criticism centers on the perceived disconnect between the national rhetoric of the Congress leadership and the practical governance requirements of its state ministers. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, President of the Kerala BJP, argued that while Congress leaders frequently disparage the business community, their own Chief Ministers remain acutely aware that state-level job creation depends heavily on industrial investment. He suggested that Rahul Gandhi’s opposition to certain business figures is inconsistent, contrasting it with what he described as a preference for questionable foreign entities over domestic job creators.

Adding to the pressure, BJP spokesperson Shaik Baji demanded the resignation of DK Shivakumar, questioning how the party can reconcile its parliamentary attacks on the Adani Group with private discussions held in Bengaluru. For his part, Shivakumar dismissed the controversy, characterizing the hour-long conversation as a courtesy call. He noted that this was his first meeting with the chairman since assuming office, emphasizing that the conglomerate remains a significant employer within the state.
