Satyendar Jain Arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau in Delhi

Satyendar Kumar Jain appeared before the Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday, marking a significant escalation in the legal pressure surrounding the Aam Aadmi Party. The former Delhi Water Minister was taken into custody following an FIR registered on May 11, 2024, citing multiple violations of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the AAP, swiftly condemned the move. He publicly challenged Union Home Minister Amit Shah on X, alleging that the arrest was orchestrated under direct political pressure rather than through standard investigative procedure. According to Kejriwal, the detention was not part of any prior investigative strategy.

The political fallout extended beyond the AAP leadership. Swati Maliwal, a BJP MP and former associate within the AAP, leveraged the arrest to launch a scathing critique of the party’s governance. She characterized Kejriwal’s tenure as a hub of corruption, asserting that the former minister intentionally avoided formal responsibilities to evade accountability for ongoing investigations.
