The pan-European STOXX 600 index climbed 0.4% to 659.29 by 07:20 GMT, bolstered by President Donald Trump’s characterization of recent U.S.-Iran talks as productive. The mining sector capitalized on this improved sentiment, leading the benchmark with a 2.4% gain.
Corporate performance highlighted the volatility underlying the broader market rise. Novo Nordisk shares tumbled 3.5% despite an upgraded full-year outlook, as investors fixated on a sales miss for its Wegovy pill and a clinical setback for the obesity treatment CagriSema. Conversely, Sandoz surged 7% following a 9% increase in second-quarter net sales, while Siemens Energy added 3.9% after reporting record third-quarter results driven by high demand in the Middle East and the expansion of AI data centers.
