Ukrainian Drone Campaign Targets Wildberries Logistics Network

The overnight offensive targeted three separate locations, placing significant strain on Wildberries, Russia’s dominant online retailer. While fire crews managed to contain blazes at facilities near St. Petersburg and in the Tver region, the human toll in the Moscow region underscores the growing impact of the drone campaign. Governor Andrei Vorobyov confirmed the fatalities in Chekhov, though he stopped short of identifying the specific company operating that facility.

Since July 18, Ukraine has struck nearly 20 sites belonging to the retailer, which processes millions of orders daily. The physical destruction has been extensive, with state news agency TASS reporting that a Sunday strike in the Samara region gutted 160,000 square metres of warehouse space. A separate fire in the Vladimir region recently required hundreds of firefighters to contain. CEO Tatyana Kim has characterized these systematic strikes as acts of terrorism, though the company has yet to provide a comprehensive estimate of the resulting financial losses. In response to the persistent instability, the retailer is currently expanding its operations into Kazakhstan, where it is developing 260,000 square metres of new logistics capacity.
