Naked Jumper Survives Leap from Brooklyn Bridge

The incident began around 2:30 p.m. when the man climbed the Manhattan-side framework of the bridge. Before stripping off his clothes, he secured several flags to the structure, drawing a crowd of onlookers who captured the scene on their mobile devices. NYPD Emergency Service Unit officers reached the tower and attempted to negotiate a peaceful descent, but the man bypassed their efforts by jumping into the water below.

Video footage of the event shows the man holding a dark garment above his head during the descent, though investigators have not confirmed whether this was an intentional attempt to break his fall.
