Ram Gopal Yadav Criticizes Government Over Parliament Skit Controversy

Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav has accused the government of prioritizing narrative manipulation over governance, following the registration of FIRs against opposition leaders. The legal action stems from a July 31 protest within the Parliament complex, where MPs performed a skit alleging corruption in Ram Mandir donation collections.

The controversy centers on Independent MP Pappu Yadav, who appeared in the Parliament complex dressed in saffron robes to parody a temple priest. Alongside other opposition members, he enacted a performance involving a donation box, an act that triggered immediate backlash from government officials and religious figures. Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar challenged the Samajwadi Party’s internal consistency, questioning whether the party’s stance on the incident was driven by factional interests or vote-bank appeasement.

In response to the demonstration, BJP Chief Whip Sanjay Jaiswal filed a notice of breach of privilege against Pappu Yadav, arguing the performance was an affront to the dignity of the House. Mahant Sitaram Das, who has demanded legal action against those involved, criticized the MPs for choosing to ridicule Sanatan Dharma rather than addressing legitimate public concerns. Yadav dismissed these criticisms as evidence of the government’s tendency to shift blame and distort facts instead of addressing the underlying allegations regarding temple donations.
