Ukrainian Drone Barrage Targets Russian Industrial and Military Sites

The strike on a residential building in Engels, Saratov region, resulted in two fatalities, according to Governor Roman Busargin. Beyond the human toll, the attack damaged local infrastructure, including a facility tied to the city’s oil refinery and the nearby Engels military airbase. Kyiv’s military command confirmed these targets, noting that additional fires broke out at an oil depot in the Kaluga region.

Further casualties were reported in Udmurtia, where three people died, and in the Belgorod border region, which saw another three deaths and five injuries. In the Samara region, Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev confirmed a drone hit a Wildberries warehouse, a site central to Russia’s consumer economy. This attack fits a broader pattern: since July 18, Ukrainian forces have targeted roughly a dozen facilities owned by the retailer to disrupt domestic supply chains.

While Russia’s Defence Ministry claimed to have downed 635 drones, regional officials reported significant activity elsewhere. Bashkortostan Governor Radiy Khabirov stated that air defenses intercepted a massive strike near Ufa, where one drone sparked a fire in an industrial zone. Reciprocal strikes continued in Ukraine, where Russian glide bombs hit Zaporizhzhia, killing one person and injuring 21, while Moscow reported attacking military cargo vessels near Mykolaiv and in the Black Sea.
