Drone debris lands in Romania following border air incident

Fragments of a drone intercepted by Ukrainian forces near the Danube river fell onto a farm field in Romania on Sunday. The incident occurred near the village of Periprava, marking another intrusion into NATO-member territory as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to spill across the border.

The Romanian Defence Ministry confirmed that the debris caused no damage or injuries upon impact. According to officials, the unmanned aerial vehicle spent approximately 20 minutes within Romanian airspace before crossing back into Ukraine. The ministry has not specified the origin of the drone involved in this particular event.

This incident follows a series of similar breaches throughout the summer. In late July, the Romanian military deployed F-16 fighter jets to intercept three separate Russian drones that violated national airspace over three consecutive days. The proximity of these crossings to the Danube border remains a persistent security concern for Bucharest.
