Rosatom vessel sinks in Black Sea following Ukrainian drone strike

Seventeen crew members escaped with their lives after two Ukrainian drones targeted and sank a civilian cargo ship operated by the Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom. The vessel, which was hauling frozen food and construction supplies, went down in the Black Sea overnight, according to company head Alexei Likhachev.

Likhachev condemned the strike as an act of piracy and maritime robbery. The incident marks a significant escalation in the ongoing regional conflict, where both Moscow and Kyiv have intensified efforts to disrupt maritime logistics they claim support the opposing side’s military operations. No fatalities were reported among the 17-member crew, who managed to survive the sudden assault on their transport ship.
