Sandeep Dikshit argued that while inflammatory language remains inappropriate, the current state response treats students like criminals rather than citizens voicing legitimate grievances. For two months, demonstrations have persisted nationwide against government policies, yet Dikshit maintains that these core concerns remain unaddressed by the administration.
Saurav Das further escalated the critique, questioning the selective application of the law. He pointed to the fact that nearly half of all Lok Sabha members face criminal charges, including serious offenses, without encountering similar police scrutiny. Das characterized the FIR against 25-year-old Ruchika Singh as an act of harassment, urging authorities to redirect their resources toward elected officials with criminal records instead of targeting young demonstrators. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the mounting controversy on Saturday via Instagram, acknowledging the public anger while advocating for guidance over punitive measures.
