Jairam Ramesh demands Modi apology over governance failures

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of weaponizing victimhood to deflect from systemic failures. In a sharp rebuke, Ramesh demanded a formal apology from the Prime Minister, citing a series of controversies ranging from the NEET-UG examination integrity crisis to the long-standing economic fallout of demonetization.

Ramesh characterized the Prime Minister as a leader who relies on vitriol and institutional protection to smear political opponents. He argued that the current administration fosters a culture of abuse, pointing specifically to the handling of the National Testing Agency and the response to student protests as evidence of government-sanctioned brutality. The Congress MP framed the Prime Minister’s recent remarks about forgiving the youth as an act of supreme self-obsession that ignores the genuine trauma inflicted upon millions of students.

Beyond educational concerns, Ramesh resurrected the 2016 demonetization policy, labeling it a destructive move that dismantled livelihoods and shuttered small businesses. He also targeted the Ram Mandir Trust, alleging financial impropriety and betrayal of public faith. For the Congress leadership, these grievances constitute a growing list of failures that the Prime Minister has yet to address with accountability, despite his frequent public appearances.
