The denial follows a Reuters report from Wednesday which suggested that the Iran-aligned group was weighing a fee structure for ships entering the southern Red Sea. Those reports alleged the proposal arose during high-level meetings between Houthi representatives and Iranian officials in Tehran this past July. The Houthi-run Humanitarian Operations Coordination Center (HOCC) countered these claims by asserting that no such policy shift had occurred.

Beyond rejecting the financial claims, the HOCC issued a formal advisory to maritime operators. The organization stressed that any individual or entity demanding payment to guarantee safe passage does not represent the Republic of Yemen. Shipping firms were urged to withhold both funds and operational data from unauthorized parties, maintaining that current transit protocols remain unchanged despite the ongoing maritime blockade declared against Saudi Arabia.
