Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that falling debris sparked blazes in three separate neighborhoods, with the most significant damage sustained by a high-rise building in the city center. While the Ukrainian air force issued an urgent alert at the onset of the attack, the threat level was downgraded after 50 minutes of intense activity.
Despite eyewitness reports of sustained blasts rocking the capital, no casualties have been confirmed. The strikes align with a broader security alert issued by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who had warned citizens of potential Russian aggression within a 48-hour window. Emergency crews remain on the ground to assess structural integrity and extinguish remaining hotspots.
