Sanjay Raut Demands Accountability After Hospital Assault in Kalyan

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has challenged Maharashtra’s leadership, demanding swift retribution after a Shiv Sena corporator allegedly assaulted medical staff at a Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation hospital. Raut’s sharp rebuke follows reports of staff being targeted while attempting to manage patient care, igniting a fierce political firestorm across the state.

The incident centers on Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre, who faces accusations of physical violence against female doctors and nurses. While Raut has publicly slammed the administration, labeling the perpetrators as thugs and calling for public humiliation of the accused, Mhatre has defended his actions. He claims the viral CCTV footage is misleading due to camera angles and denies striking the doctor, insisting he only tapped a nurse on the hand because she was distracted by her phone during a discussion regarding hospital grievances.

Opposition leaders, including Maharashtra Congress President Harshwardhan Sapkal, have accused the Shinde faction of abusing power, asserting that such aggression against healthcare workers is intolerable. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde has condemned the events, confirming that a formal case has been registered. The medical community has also weighed in, with the Federation of All India Medical Association calling the episode deeply unfortunate and highlighting the growing vulnerability of healthcare professionals in the line of duty.
