Skydiver Collides With Rodeo Tent After Flag Snags in Tree

A festive Fourth of July tradition turned chaotic at the Folsom Pro Rodeo on July 2 when a skydiver, identified as Ross, crashed into a vendor tent. The jumper’s weighted American flag clipped a tree during his descent, jerking him off course and causing his parachute to collapse onto the structure.

The incident occurred during the opening night of the 65th annual event in Northern California. Video footage shows the jumper gliding toward the arena before the flag’s weight snagged on a nearby tree, forcing a sudden change in trajectory. The impact caused part of the tent roof to cave in near the spectator stands, prompting attendees to rush to the scene. Despite the dramatic landing, organizers confirmed that Ross sustained only minor injuries and required no hospital treatment. No spectators were harmed during the crash. Jennifer Cliff, a spokesperson for Choose Folsom, noted that while the landing was not what the jumper intended, he remained in good condition. In a display of resilience that earned a standing ovation, Ross returned to the arena on July 3 to successfully perform the same flag-bearing jump again.
