BJP Vice President Fatehjung Singh Bajwa spearheaded the criticism, arguing that the current legislative framework suffers from fatal oversights due to a lack of institutional consultation. During a high-stakes meeting at the Akal Takht, Bajwa pointedly noted that the drafting process deliberately excluded the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and the Akal Takht secretariat, rendering the law disconnected from the community it intends to protect.
Beyond technical flaws, the political friction surrounding the bill continues to mount. Bajwa accused the Aam Aadmi Party of weaponizing the legislation as a strategic distraction from the government's failure to deliver on long-standing electoral promises regarding unresolved sacrilege cases. The government now faces a strict thirty-day window to recalibrate its approach and engage in the substantive dialogue previously ignored.
