Israeli Cyber Defense Faces Threefold Surge in Iranian Attacks

The digital front between Israel and Iran has intensified sharply, with cyber incidents climbing from 1,600 in June 2025 to 4,800 a year later. Yossi Karadi, Director General of Israel’s National Cyber Directorate, confirmed that the escalation follows the launch of joint U.S.-Israeli military operations against Tehran earlier this year.

While national critical infrastructure remains resilient against state-sponsored incursions, the operational reality for the private sector is increasingly volatile. Smaller entities, including law and accounting firms, face frequent system wipes as threat actors pivot toward these more vulnerable targets. Karadi maintains that the state is managing the surge effectively, though he warns that cyberspace operates in a state of permanent conflict, leaving no room for a de facto ceasefire.

Tehran continues to deny involvement in these hacking campaigns despite the documented rise in activity. The current pattern of aggression suggests that while major institutional defenses hold, the broader economic ecosystem in Israel remains under sustained pressure from increasingly skilled digital adversaries.
