The new park serves as the centerpiece of a broader national effort to modernize infrastructure and bolster human capital. Under the Science and Technology Development Project, the government has already equipped 54 school laboratories and trained over 1,500 faculty members. The initiative emphasizes inclusivity, having provided 161 international scholarships and specialized support for 1,204 girls from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue science careers.
African Development Bank Country Manager Pietro Toigo noted that the project is now looking toward a second phase, which aims to establish technology corridors in provinces across the country. By fostering collaboration between universities, private enterprise, and government bodies, the park provides a workspace for researchers to commercialize ideas. Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Albano Lopes Ferreira described the facility as a critical milestone for national policy, designed to improve the country's competitiveness and generate high-value employment opportunities for young innovators.
