Chowdhury argues that this tragedy confirms long-standing warnings about unregulated building practices within the city. He insists the administration must identify the specific nexus between rogue developers and local institutions that allowed such structures to operate unchecked. He cautioned the Union government against a hasty implementation, advocating instead for a transparent, inclusive consultation process that respects the distinct social and cultural fabric of West Bengal.
