Kumaraswamy Demands Direct Dialogue Over Bidadi Land Dispute

Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy heads to Byramangala on June 27 for a high-stakes meeting with Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, aiming to resolve the standoff surrounding the Bidadi township project. The session seeks to address mounting tensions between state authorities and local farmers who allege they are being coerced into surrendering their land.

Kumaraswamy Demands Direct Dialogue Over Bidadi Land Dispute

The Janata Dal (Secular) leader, speaking from his Bengaluru residence, rejected the notion of a 'letter war' with the state government, opting instead for a face-to-face confrontation with the issues at hand. He insisted that any discussion regarding the industrial township must include the affected landowners to ensure their grievances are heard directly by the Chief Minister.

Kumaraswamy leveled sharp accusations against the current administration, claiming that farmers resisting the land acquisition are facing intimidation. While some property owners have signed off on the project, a significant contingent remains in open defiance, citing threats to their livelihoods. The Union Minister has pledged his support for these protesters, provided their dissent remains within legal boundaries, and is pushing for a negotiated settlement that avoids further state-led pressure.
