Ukrainian Drone Strikes Hit Tula Chemical Plant

Two hundred kilometers south of Moscow, the Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk has been struck by drones for the second time in a fortnight. The facility, a critical node in Russia’s explosives production chain, is now a primary target in Kyiv’s campaign to erode the industrial foundations of the war effort.

Regional governor Dmitry Milyayev confirmed damage to the industrial site following the latest wave of attacks. These strikes represent a shift in tactics, moving beyond oil refineries and fuel terminals to directly challenge the manufacturing capacity behind Russian military operations. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has framed these actions as a necessary strategy to cripple the economic resources sustaining the invasion.

The Russian Defence Ministry recently reported a record number of intercepted drones, signaling a strain on its existing air defense networks and repair infrastructure. As these strikes intensify, the logistical burden of maintaining production at key sites like the Novomoskovsk plant is mounting, forcing a recalculation of defense priorities across the region.
