The state-run KCNA confirmed the successful deployment of a 24-tube multiple rocket launcher system, now equipped with an autonomous guidance package. Engineers have pushed the firing range to 90 kilometers, a technical jump intended to provide the North with greater reach against southern targets. Alongside the rocket systems, the military showcased tactical ballistic missiles and a 155-mm self-propelled howitzer during the exercise.
Kim expressed satisfaction with the results, framing the upgrades as a necessary evolution for modern combat. This push for automation and ultra-precision follows a similar demonstration in May, where Pyongyang tested AI-guided cruise missiles. By prioritizing these specific technical capabilities, North Korea aims to solidify its defensive posture along the southern frontier, emphasizing a shift from raw volume to targeted strike accuracy.
