The MP’s remarks followed Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s observation regarding the functional relationship between the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government and the Union. Kanimozhi distanced herself from the cycle of derogatory rhetoric, reminding colleagues that electoral outcomes are temporary, while the responsibility to govern remains constant. She expects the forthcoming assembly session to prioritize societal welfare over partisan sniping.
Beyond political decorum, Kanimozhi addressed the escalating crisis of sexual violence against women and children. She placed the onus of public security directly on the Chief Minister’s office, rejecting the tendency to deflect blame onto historical precedents. For the MP, the current atmosphere of fear necessitates immediate, tangible interventions rather than political maneuvering to restore the state's social order and ensure the safety of its citizens.
