Ayodhya Temple Trust Defends Integrity Amid Financial Scrutiny

A sharp divide has emerged over the financial conduct of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, as Ayodhya-based Acharya Himanshu Maharaj rejected calls for a federal takeover of the ongoing state investigation into alleged land scams and misappropriated donations totaling over 7 crore rupees.

Ayodhya Temple Trust Defends Integrity Amid Financial Scrutiny

Acharya Himanshu Maharaj argues that the Uttar Pradesh government’s current probe must reach a conclusion before any formal FIR is lodged, warning that premature legal action could undermine the pursuit of truth. Despite the gravity of the accusations, he maintains that the sanctity of the temple remains paramount and insists that political figures, specifically AAP leader Sanjay Singh and representatives of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, must refrain from exploiting the controversy for partisan gain. He signaled full confidence in Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s oversight, dismissing the necessity for CBI or ED intervention.

The pressure on the Trust continues to mount following claims from former Samajwadi Party MLA Pawan Pandey, who alleges significant discrepancies in temple donation funds. Sanjay Singh has further intensified the standoff, claiming to hold evidence of inflated land purchase prices and has petitioned the Supreme Court to demand a court-monitored investigation. While the Trust remains the focal point of these legal battles, the Acharya’s stance highlights a broader struggle to preserve the institution's reputation against a backdrop of escalating calls for federal transparency.
