Gates confirmed to lawmakers that Epstein was aware of his relationships with bridge player Mila Antonova and nuclear physicist Karima Nigmatulina, as well as a third affair with entrepreneur Alice Jacobs Nesselrodt. While the billionaire emphasized that these personal matters were entirely separate from his professional engagements, he admitted that Epstein’s awareness of them created a clear vulnerability. Gates pointed to a 2013 email draft involving his former associate, Boris Nikolic, as evidence that Epstein was actively exploring ways to use personal leverage to advance his own objectives.
Beyond the allegations of coercion, the testimony addressed the broader nature of their relationship. Gates maintained that his roughly 12 to 14 meetings with Epstein were focused exclusively on philanthropy and potential donor networking, noting that the financier’s promises of connecting him with wealthy contributors never materialized. He dismissed claims regarding his health, specifically denying rumors that he had contracted a sexually transmitted infection or provided medication to others. As the investigation into Epstein’s network continues, the Bill Gates Foundation has initiated an external review to audit its own past associations with the late financier.
