US Airstrike Eliminates Senior Islamic State Figure in Syria

A precision U.S. military strike in northwestern Syria last week killed Ali Husayn al-Ulaywi, a senior Islamic State commander. Central Command confirmed the operation, marking a tactical blow to the militant group as it continues to plot attacks against American interests and personnel across the region.

The mission targets the remnants of the group, which once controlled vast swathes of Syrian territory before a U.S.-led coalition dismantled its formal caliphate. Despite their territorial defeat, the organization remains active, recently claiming responsibility for an assault near Manbij in the Aleppo province.

President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s government continues to face pressure from the group’s surviving factions. This latest operation underscores the persistent U.S. commitment to disrupting networks that utilize the ongoing regional instability to reorganize and target international objectives.
