The political fallout stems from the June 18 polls, where the BJP secured only two seats while Congress claimed five, exceeding its projected tally by 16 votes. In response, BJP National President Nitin Nabin convened a high-level summit in New Delhi, bringing together state president BY Vijayandra, LoP R Ashok, and BL Santhosh to autopsy the loss.

Beyond internal betrayal, the investigation is examining the strategic failures of alliance partner JD(S). Sources indicate the BJP leadership had previously warned their counterparts about internal dissatisfaction and the risks of fielding a candidate without sufficient vote strength, alerts that were ultimately disregarded.
