Four South Korean Vessels Clear Strait of Hormuz

Four cargo ships operated by South Korean firms have safely cleared the Strait of Hormuz, moving toward their respective destinations in South Korea and abroad. This transit marks a small step in navigating the volatile maritime corridor, though the majority of the nation's fleet remains stalled in the Gulf region.

Four South Korean Vessels Clear Strait of Hormuz

The South Korean maritime ministry confirmed on Wednesday that the vessels successfully exited the chokepoint, with one carrier heading directly to domestic ports and the others bound for international destinations. The departure follows earlier reports from Yonhap News Agency, which identified two of the ships as HMM-operated vessels, including a massive crude carrier.

Despite this movement, the broader logistical blockade persists. Eighteen of the 26 South Korean-operated ships that were effectively stranded at the onset of the Middle East conflict remain anchored in Gulf waters. The ministry continues to monitor the situation as the remaining fleet awaits safer passage through one of the world's most critical energy transit routes.
