The demand follows the submission of a preliminary report by a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to the Uttar Pradesh government. Tasked with reviewing potential irregularities, the SIT handed its findings to Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad this week. While SIT member Vijay Vishwas Pant confirmed the delivery of the document, he declined to elaborate on the specific findings, citing the confidentiality of the ongoing inquiry.
The Uttar Pradesh government established the investigative team on June 14, acting on a request from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir Trust. The move was prompted by public allegations of fiscal misconduct raised by former Samajwadi Party MLA Pawan Pandey. As the state administration reviews the initial report, the political debate over the management of temple donations continues to intensify.
