Delhi Leaders Link Article 370 Abrogation to Mookerjee's Legacy

“The abrogation of Article 370 served as the greatest floral tribute at his feet,” Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta declared on Tuesday, marking the 73rd death anniversary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee during a commemorative event in the national capital.

Gupta framed the legislative move alongside the rise of a nationalist government in West Bengal as the definitive fulfillment of Mookerjee’s long-standing vision. She pledged that her administration would continue to align its public welfare policies with the ideological framework established by the late leader. Union Minister and Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra joined the tribute, crediting Mookerjee for igniting the spirit of nationalism that currently underpins the BJP’s core philosophy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also honored the occasion, describing Mookerjee as a statesman whose courage remains a benchmark for public service. The party observes the date as Balidan Diwas, commemorating Mookerjee’s death in Kashmir on June 23, 1953. Alongside cabinet members and party officials, the leadership reaffirmed a commitment to Mookerjee’s goal of a strong, developed India.
